August is National Breastfeeding Month! What does this mean? It means that the birthing world acknowledges the importance of breastfeeding, and celebrates all things breastfeeding. This year, efforts were directed towards removing the stigma associated with breastfeeding. Particularly, nursing in public and prolonged nursing. Hence the popular hashtag #normalizebreastfeeding.
When we realized there were no events on the Eastside to celebrate National Breastfeeding Month,we quickly reached out to La Leche League of Washington to remedy this issue. Ms. Betsy Hoffmiester, the President of La Leche League of Washington, jumped on board immediately with only four short weeks to plan our Live, Love, LATCH ON Family Picnic. Our amazing vendors and sponsors all pitched in providing wonderful gifts, gift cards, and even donating cash to make the event a HUGE success. These sponsors and vendors included:
Wee Tots Children’s Store
FIT4MOM Redmond and Bellevue
Our Perfect Baby
North West Asset Management
Angela & Evan Photography &
Minnesota based Colored Organics
The Perfect Push 1st Annual, “Live, Love, LATCH ON” was held on August 22nd at Marymoor Park in Redmond. A total of 116 guests attended, including 26 moms and nurslings aged 3 weeks to 4 years and participated in the simultaneous LATCH ON. Many, many thanks to our very wonderful and generous sponsors, our partners La Leche League of West Seattle and Kirkland, each of the volunteers, and most importantly, all of the parents who took the time to come out and support such a worthy cause, and making the day such a tremendous success. We are VERY excited to start planning next year’s event, and hope to make it even bigger and better!
