Apprentice Postpartum Doula
Heidi is an Apprentice Postpartum Doula pursuing dual certification with NAPS and DONA. She is training to be a Certified Lactation Educator and a Pregnancy and Infant Loss Advocate.
Heidi provides clients with education-based care and is sensitive to those who have experienced trauma and perinatal loss. She is a natural caregiver and enjoys helping families bond with their babies. Heidi is a practical helper, a thoughtful listener and a gentle presence. She is warm, grounded, calm, and is known for being level-headed in stressful situations. Heidi is adept at helping families transition to more than one child. She is great with siblings and has several years of volunteer experience with preschool and elementary aged children. Heidi loves to cook and can modify meals for dietary restrictions.
Heidi graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Communications. Her journey as a Postpartum Doula began when her newborn nephew experienced health complications and she assisted with his care. From this experience as well as her own long recoveries from difficult births, she was inspired to help others in the vulnerable postpartum period. She completed her Postpartum Doula training with the Simkin Center at Bastyr University. Heidi is continually learning and has completed the workshops, “When Survivors Give Birth,” “Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Advocacy” and “Infant Sleep for Doulas.” She is CPR Certified.
Heidi is married with two daughters and two dogs. She has lived in Seattle for 25 years. She and her family enjoy hiking, camping and traveling to National Parks. Heidi has a strong faith and feels called to serve families. In her down time, she enjoys snowboarding, literature and gardening.
