Experienced Birth Doula
Experienced Postpartum Doula
CD(PALS), CPD(NAPS), CLE
My interest in birth work was very organic as a continuation of the childcare and teaching experiences I had both here and in South America. I grew up in warm Sao Paulo, Brazil, and after moving to Seattle, I dove deep into my calling to be a birth and postpartum doula. I realized that I had a unique ability to recognize and cater to peoples’ individual needs and to support them in their transition to parenthood. These skills are the foundation of my doula practice.
When I think about the significant impact of my work as a doula can have on people’s lives, it immediately warms my heart. Knowing that I am the person who can assess their needs and bring the needed comfort and calm presence is both a great responsibility and a great joy. I enter each birthing situation with confidence and ease, and leave my work with a family knowing they have solid tools and confidence in their parenting skills.
When I join a family during labor, I appreciate and honor that I am participating in one of the most important moments in their lives. I can adjust my support strategies to meet a family’s needs, reassure them of the good progress of the birthing person, and accompany them on that beautiful path until the baby is in their arms.
As a Latina immigrant, I have experienced the challenges of adjusting to life in a new country without family nearby. I know first-hand how challenging it can be to reach out to a new support network for help. There is a lot of trust in a doula and birthing parent relationship. Everyone experiences new emotions, and these feelings can be scary. I am there to provide comfort as well as to share information to help the birthing family make informed and empowered decisions.
